This feature is available to TELUS Crop Management Advanced and Premium customers only.
If you manage more than one farm business within your TELUS Crop Management account, Intra-Business Trading allows you to record transactions between those businesses — invoicing for products used and activities carried out by one business on behalf of another. This is particularly useful where one business carries out contracting work for another, or where products are shared across businesses.
When an Intra-Business Trade is saved, a matching Intra Business Sale is created on the supplying business's side and an Intra Business Purchase on the receiving business's side — keeping both trading records in sync automatically.
About Intra-Business Trading
Intra-Business Trading covers two types of charges:
Products — stock items (such as seeds, fertilisers, or crop protection products) held by the supplying business but used to cover a deficit in the recipient business's inventory.
Activities — field operations (such as spraying or harvesting) carried out by the supplying business on the recipient business's fields.
The feature can automatically calculate what should be included in the transaction based on a date range you specify, drawing in relevant product quantities and activity records. Unit prices are sourced from the supplying business's stock and activity price lists.
To create an Intra-Business Trade
From the Trading module:
Select + New Trade.
In the Add New Trade window, enable the Intra Business Transaction toggle. This toggle is only displayed when your account has two or more businesses.
Select the Business (the supplying business — the one raising the invoice). The Stock Period is populated automatically based on your selection.
Select the Recipient Business (the business being charged). This list shows all businesses in your account except the one you have selected as the supplying business.
Select the Stock Period you wish to create the Intra Business Transaction within.
Enter the Invoice Date, Invoice Number and Delivery Date as required.
Select the tick to proceed.
The Intra-Business Trade detail screen opens. Use the Calculate Transaction function to populate the trade.
To calculate a transaction automatically
The Calculate Transaction function reviews the recipient business's stock and activity records and suggests the quantities and prices to include in the trade.
The trade is populated with:
Products: items where the recipient business has a negative stock quantity as of the To Date, priced at the recipient business's unit prices.
Activities: field operations carried out on the recipient business's fields within the date range, priced at the recipient business's activity prices.
From the Intra-Business Trade detail screen:
Select Calculate Transaction.
In the Calculate Transaction window, select the Product Types you wish to include (e.g. Fertiliser, Seeds, Crop Protection).
Select the Activity Types you wish to include (e.g. Spraying, Harvesting).
Set the From Date and To Date for the calculation. The To Date defaults to today's date.
If no From Date is entered, the calculation includes activities from the start of the current season to the To Date.
Select Calculate.
N.B. To avoid charging for the same activities twice, the system records the To Date used in each transaction. When you next create a trade for the same recipient business, the From Date will be pre-populated with the To Date from the previous transaction.
N.B. Deleting either the Intra Business Sale or Purchase will remove the associated sale/purchase also.
The Transaction Summary report
A Transaction Summary report is available from the Trading module and can be exported as a PDF or CSV.
From the Trading module:
Select Create Reports.
The Trading Reports window opens. Transaction Summary is the available report type and is selected automatically.
Select the Business you wish to report on. This activates the export buttons.
Optionally, set one or more of the following parameters to filter the report:
Type — filter by trade type (e.g. Intra Business Sale, Intra Business Purchase, Stock Sale, Stock Purchase).
Company/Business — filter by a specific trading company or business.
From Date / To Date — limit the report to transactions with an invoice date within the specified range.
Select Export PDF or Export CSV. The report opens in a new tab.
Where an Intra-Business transaction is included, products appear above activities, each with their own subtotal and a grand total for the transaction.
N.B. The Create Reports button is only visible in the Trading module when at least one trade exists and Intra-Business Trading is enabled on your account.
The Invoice report
An Invoice report can be generated directly from within an individual Intra-Business Trade or Stock Sale.
From an open Intra-Business Trade or Stock Sale:
Select Create Reports.
Select Trade Invoice. The Invoice report opens in a new tab.
Permissions and access
Intra-Business Trading is only visible if your account has two or more businesses.
Only users on Advanced or Premium subscriptions can access Intra-Business Trading.
If you do not have pricing permission for a business, that business will not appear in the supplying Business dropdown when creating an Intra-Business Trade. You can, however, select it as the Recipient Business.
Where a trade involves a business you do not have pricing permission for, the net value will appear as — in the trade list, and pricing totals and the Calculate Transaction option will not be available when you open the trade.
Admin users always have full pricing access across all businesses.
