The Cropping Planner gives you a season-by-season view of your cropping across all your fields, letting you plan, review, and update cropping quickly in one place. You'll find it in the Fields module, under the Cropping Planner tab.
Choosing which seasons to view
Use the Season Selector at the top of the screen to choose which years are shown. You can select or deselect individual years to bring them into or out of view.
Filtering fields
Use the Filter option next to the Season Selector to narrow the list down to a particular business field group, season, or land use. Select Clear Filter(s) to remove any filters you've applied.
Selecting fields
You can select fields in the Cropping Planner in two ways:
Individually: Tick the checkbox next to each field you want to select.
By season (multi-select): Click on the year at the top of a column:
Click once to select all fields that already have cropping allocated for that year.
Click twice to select all fields that don't yet have cropping allocated (unallocated fields).
Click a third time to deselect everything.
Viewing your cropping summary
The right-hand side of the screen shows a summary of your cropping for the selected year, the total area and percentage of each crop and variety.
Setting up cropping for a field
To set up cropping for a field for the first time, select it and click Setup Field. This opens a form where you can define the crop, variety, and area for that field and season, creating a cropping record where none existed before.
Copying cropping from another season
Rather than setting up every field individually, you can copy an existing season's cropping across to another year. Select the field(s) you want to copy, then click Copy To and choose the year you want to copy cropping from. This populates cropping records for the selected fields in one go. Copy To is intended for bringing cropping into fields/seasons that don't already have cropping set up, if a selected field already has an existing cropping record for the destination year, that field will not be included in the copy.
Updating existing cropping records
Once a field has a cropping record for the season you're viewing, you can select it (or multi-select several fields at once) and use the Update button to make changes, such as changing crop, variety, or area.
⚠️ Important: The Update button only becomes available when every field you've selected already has a cropping record for that season. If you multi-select fields that don't yet have cropping set up, for example, using the "unallocated fields" multi-select option, Update won't appear as an option for them.
To use Update on those fields, you'll need to create a cropping record first, either by:
Copying cropping in from another season using Copy To, or
Using Setup Field to set up the field's cropping directly.
Once a cropping record exists, Update becomes available for that field. This applies the same way whether a field grows a single crop or has multiple crops in a sequence (see below).
Managing multiple crops in a season (sequential cropping)
If a field grows more than one crop in a season, this is managed as a crop sequence. Sequences are shown in the Cropping Planner with a small icon indicating each crop in the sequence. For details on creating and managing crop sequences, see the Sequential Cropping article.
